LANSING–The MCC women’s basketball team opened up their first road game of the season with a dominant 81-30 rout in Lansing over Great Lakes Christian College on Tuesday.

Coming out strong right off the jump the Jayhawks overwhelmed the Crusaders utilizing the press to snag some quick turnovers and pulled ahead with a 23 point lead at halftime outscoring the GLCC 38-15 over the first two quarters of action.

The Jayhawks didn’t cool down any after the break either holding the Crusaders to just three points in the third quarter as MCC outscored GLCC 43-15 in the final half.

It was a balanced performance by MCC with several Jayhawks marking up the stat sheet.

Mariah Pringle (Brethren) led the way scoring 16 points, grabbing nine rebounds and making three steals while Julia Tierman (Mona Shores) put up 15 points, dished out six assists and had three steals on the evening.

Ashley Richmond (West Catholic) netted 10 points and grabbed three rebounds and Calla Miller (Fremont) added nine points and seven rebounds. Ally Sieber (Reeths-Puffer) pulled down 12 rebounds.

Good team win tonight. The team is making good progress,” said lady Jayhawks coach Jason Cooper.

MCC moves to 5-1 on the season and will host Saint Clair Community College on Thursday evening.
