GRAND RAPIDS–The Oakridge boys basketball team, despite getting within three points at one point, couldn’t overcome the West Catholic Falcons losing 64-36 on Monday in the Holiday Tournament at Cornerstone University.

The Eagles were fighting from behind most of the first half but after a Peyton Ruel three pointer brought the Eagles within a 21-18 deficit with only three minutes left in the first half it seemed they could be poised to make a comeback.

That wasn’t in the cards for the Eagles, however.

The Falcons spent the last three minutes of the first half and the first two minutes in the second half going on a 22-4 scoring run and completely deflate the Eagles.

Leading the way for Oakriudge was Garrett Wever who had 11 points and two assists while Ethan Jozsa scored 10 points and Peyton Ruel added seven points and made three steals.

Oakridge is now off until after the holidays when they will host Mason County Central on Tuesday January 4th in WMC action.
