LUDINGTON — It was a back-and-forth affair at Hawley Gymnasium in Ludington on Tuesday night, with visiting Benzie Central coming away with a 69-61 victory in the non-conference game.

The Huskies (1-0) led the Orioles (1-2) by four, 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. Ludington bounced back with a 15-12 edge in the second, cutting the deficit to just one, 28-27 at the half.

Benzie had a 24-20 edge in a wild third quarter, and went into the fourth and final period holding a 52-47 edge. The Huskies outscored the Orioles, 17-14 in the final eight minutes, 12-4 in the last four minutes.

David Schillinger led three players in double figures for the Orioles with 19 points, Peyton LaCombe had 16 and Levi Laman added 11.

Nate Childers scored a game-high 22 points for the Huskies, while Michael Wooten tossed in 16.
