Kater arrives on to the Rockets’ scene after he exited his alma mater Montague and went to Tifton, GA to be the quarterbacks coach and director of offensive implementation.

“I am excited to join the athletic staff at Reeths-Puffer High School,” said Kater in a Reeth-Puffer press release. “I look forward to building relationships with student-athletes and getting to work to set the new standard.”

The 2010 Montague graduate and star quarterback, led the Wildcats to back-to-back state football titles in 2008 and 2009. The 6-3 Kater also was an assistant coach for the Wildcats for six seasons under long-time Coach Pat Collins. He was also the girls basketball Coach at Montague where he was a teacher until his departure for the 2021 school year.

“We couldn’t be happier than to welcome Coach Cody Kater to lead our Football program,” said RP Athletic Director Cliff Sandee. “After an exhaustive search and conversations with an incredibly deep and an outstanding candidate pool, it became clear that Coach Kater was our guy.”|
