Reeths-Puffer built a massive first-half lead over Spring Lake in the Rockets’ 57-29 non-league girls basketball win on Friday night.

The Rockets used a 17-0 run between the first and second quarters to win their home opener over Spring Lake.

Reeths-Puffer’s run began in the first quarter while it was down 4-2 early. The early deficit sparked the Rockets to a 13-4 advantage after the first quarter. 

Reeths-Puffer did not let off the gas pedal in the second quarter, taking a 24-10 lead into halftime. The third quarter was more Rockets as the talented squad dropped in 21 points and extended its lead to 45-18.

The offensive dynamic duo of Ariel Walker and Sophia Hekkema led the Rockets. Walker finished with 18 points and three rebounds while Hekkema scored 16 points on an efficient 6 of 8 shooting from the floor and recorded seven rebounds. Brooklyn Tornes added 11 points of her own in the offensive explosion for the Rockets.

The Lakers were led by Alexa Carter with seven points and five rebounds. Nicole Schmitt tallied five points and three rebounds. 

 
Reeths-Puffer will next host Ludington on Tuesday, December 7, while Spring Lake travels to Montague on the same day.
