The Shelby boys basketball team out did North Muskgon in a WMC matchup on Friday, ending the night with a hard fought 40-34 victory.

The score was tied at half, 14-14, but Shelby came out of halftime with a 5-0 run that proved to be the game’s tipping point.

The Norse were able to cut into the deficit a couple times but just couldn’t get ahead.

Leading for the Tigers was Bishop Lee with 10 points. Joseph Hayes and Carson Claeys each chipped in nine points.

Troy McManus was essential for the Norsemen, recording a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Bo Nadeau added five points.

The win is Shelby first of the season and improves the Tigers to 1-1, 1-0. Shelby will next travel to Oakridge on Thursday.

North Muskegon is also now 1-1, 0-1 and will play Whitehall on Thursday.
