A rough second half buried the Shelby girls basketball team in its 47-26 non-conference loss to Newaygo on Tuesday.

The Tigers built a 10-4 lead after the first quarter and led 19-18 at halftime. But a seven-point second half performance was not enough to keep Shelby in the game.

Kendall Zoulek led the Tigers with eight points and two assists while Mollie Schultz and Aubrey Klotz added five points apiece.

Shelby opens up West Michigan Conference action on Friday when it host North Muskegon.
