Mona Shores snuck out a tight 38-37 win over Grand Haven in girls basketball on Tuesday.

Olivia Sobczak’s free throws in the final seconds of the game lifted Mona Shores.

The Sailors defense also was key in the win, holding Grand Haven to single digit quarters after falling behind 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Mona Shores bounced back in the second quarter and trailed 21-23 at half time and took a 30-28 lead after the third.

Sobczak led Mona Shores with 12 points, Khaleeya Cook added 11 points, Jenna Tierman had eight points and Mia Brown chipped in five points.

Grand Haven was led by Zoe Spoelman with points, Molly Long scored nine points and Emerson Berndt added eight points.

Mona Shores next plays on Friday at Forest Hills Northern while Grand Haven travels to Spring Lake on Friday.
