The Spring Lake boy’s basketball team nearly turned around a 10-point deficit in the final three minutes of its 61-58 loss to Traverse City St. Francis on Wednesday.
The Lakers nearly wowed the crowd at Grand Haven’s Lakeshore Cup with a last second buzzer beater that rimmed out.
Spring Lake batted the Gladiators back and forth and trailed just 26-23 at the halftime break.
Leading the Lakers in the loss was Eli Morrison with 15 points. Kaden George scored 13 points and Zach Schlepp chipped in 11 points.
George was also named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts.
Spring Lake is now 2-2 on the season and is off until the Lakers open O-K Blue Conference play on Friday January 7th against Fruitport.
