Ella Andree’s layup with 12 seconds left to play lifted Spring Lake to a 42-41 win over Montague in an exciting non-league girls basketball matchup on Tuesday.

The Lakers trailed by 12-points with 6:30 left in the game and finished with a 17-4 fourth-quarter run to steal the win from Montague.

Spring Lake’s Brooke Bolthouse came up big with a key block on Montague’s Kendall Osbourne with three seconds left to seal the win. Bolthouse also drained a 3-point dagger to bring the Lakers to within a point of Montague, 41-40.

Bolthouse finished with 11 points while Andree scored 10.

Montague didn’t let a 9-4 first quarter deficit hold it back as it turned the tables on Spring Lake, taking a 35-25 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats were led by Maddie Meacham with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Claire Meacham finished with seven points and 12 rebounds while Emma Dyer scored eight points.

Spring Lake was also paced by Jennifer Judge with 10 points while Meah Bajt had six rebounds, three assists, and four steals to go with her 2 points.

Both the Lakers and Montague are now 2-1 overall.
