Opening up their O-K Green Conference season the Mona Shores girls basketball team cruised past Grand Rapids Union 64-42 on Friday night.

The Sailors went ahead 43-21 after the second quarter and spent the rest of the game defending their lead.

It was a balanced scoring effort for the Sailors.

Ali Phillips led the way with 13 points, while Lily Miller added 12 points and Mia Brown netted 11 points.

Mona Shores improves to 6-1 on the season and will host Zeeland West on Tuesday evening.
