WHITE CLOUD — Hart’s girls basketball team was able to get some early scoring opportunities thanks to turnovers created by its pressure defense, and triggered a quick start that led to a resounding 55-21 victory over the Indians on the road Tuesday night.

The Pirates shut the Indians out, 15-0 in the first quarter as Aspen Boutell scored seven points. Hart continued its tough defense in the second quarter and outscored the Indians, 19-7 with Mariana VanAgtmael each scoring eight points as the Pirates mounted a 34-7 halftime lead.

Addi Hovey paced the Pirates with 19 points. She also hauled down five rebounds, had 10 steals, two blocks and dished out three assists.

VanAgtmael scored 13 points, pulled down four rebounds and picked off five steals. Morgan Marvin added 11 rebounds and five assists.

Boutell finished with 10 points, had four steals and dished out four assists. Abby Hicks helped out with seven steals.

The Pirates improved to 8-1 with their seventh straight win and are next scheduled to play at North Muskegon on Thursday.
