Having not lost since the opening game of the season against Saugatuck, the Calvary Christian girls basketball team continues to ride their hot streak with a solid win over Byron Center Zion Christian 39-21 on Monday evening.

It was a sluggish start as both teams put up little points in the first quarter with the Eagles holding a slight 8-6 lead.

After getting warmed up a bit, however, the Eagles found a spark as shots began to fall with a 13-6 scoring run to go into the break with a healthy 21-12 lead.

The Eagles used the third quarter to really seal the deal as they again went on a scoring run this time holding the Mountaineers to only five points to their 12 points to grow the lead to 33-17.

The scoring waned in the final quarter and the Eagles closed out the night with another Alliance League victory.

The win for the Eagles was an all around team effort as multiple girls did their part to contribute. Leading the way was McKena Wilson who posted 10 points, five assists, three steals and blocks while Cate Anhalt put up nine points and made three assists.

Avneet Cheem was all over for the Eagles scoring eight points, making six assists, grabbing five rebounds and snagging two steals. Reagan Payton added eight points with five rebounds and Nora Pollock chipped in grabbing nine boards.

Calvary Christian climbs to 8-1 on the season with a perfect 3-0 in conference play and are set to travel to Holland Black River on Tuesday.
