MUSKEGON–The Whitehall boys basketball team found themselves in a hard fought game with the Oakridge Eagles on Friday evening that came down to a deciding fourth quarter to put them away and steal the victory with a score of 62-59.

Whiehall held a seven point lead with a score of 24-17 at the halftime break.

The Eagles outscored Whitehall 23-15 in the third stanza slowly and went ahead 40-39 entering the fourth quarter.

The focus now had switched from maintaining a lead to grabbing it back for the Vikings, and the Eagles weren’t going to just lay down. Both sides battled back and forth but in the end the Vikings had the 23-19 scoring edge in the final eight minutes to solidify the win.

Two Vikings recorded a double-double on the night with Brodie Fogus scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and two steals while Camden Thompson threw in 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Red Watson and Jack Houtteman each chipped in with seven points a piece.

Whitehall improves to 5-3 and will travel to battle WMC foe Shelby on Friday.

Oakridge drops to 4-5 on the season and will visit North Muskegon on Tuesday.
