ALLENDALE — Fremont’s wrestling team had 11 grapplers come away with medals at the 13-team Allendale Invitational on Saturday.

Several returning state champion and all-state wrestlers dotted the brackets, making for some tough competition, which made Fremont’s strong showing particularly impressive.

Killian Prewitt earned a third place finish at 103, and Michael Romero took fourth place at 189. Trey Myers wrestled to a sixth place in the 145-pound class, which included two state champions and last year’s runnerup.

Also finishing in the top six for the Packers were Alex Gleason and Colby Wright. Other winners on the day for the Packers included Wei Chen, Braulio Gomez, Luke Langley, Daniel Romero, Chase Montague and Kyle Nagel.

In the girls’ division, championships were won by Kaidyn Pierson, Ella Shields and Lexie Andrea while Marina Almendro finished second in her weight class.

The Packers were scheduled to host Remus-Chippewa Hills in a dual match Wednesday.
