SHELBY — Dominating the game from start to finish, Shelby’s boys basketball team cruised to a 71-39 non-conference win over White Cloud on Tuesday night.

The Tigers opened up a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Shelby outscored White Cloud, 19-8 in the second period and built a 20-point lead, 36- 16 at the half.

Shelby outscored the Indians, 23-9 in the third quarter and led, 59-25 going into the fourth period. White Cloud outscored the Tigers, 13-12 in the final eight minutes.

Joseph Hayes had a big night for the Tigers, scoring 29 points with two 3-point field goals. He also hauled down 12 rebounds and had three assists.

Bishop Lee fired in 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had two assists. Carson Claeys added 10 points and dished out two assists.

The Tigers won their fourth straight game after a season-opening loss Fremont, and are next scheduled to play Montague on the road in a West Michigan Conference game on Thursday, January 13.
