HOLTON — Three players combined to score 35 of the Holton boys basketball team’s points as the Red Devils rumbled to a 53-15 victory Monday night over White Cloud in a Central State Activities Association Silver makeup game.

The Red Devils bolted out of the gate, outscoring the Indians, 14-2 in the first quarter and kept the hammer down, racing to a 36-5 halftime lead.

White Cloud couldn’t solve the Red Devils’ defense in the second half, either, and Holton carried a whopping 43-8 lead into the fourth quarter.

“It was another important league game for us,” Red Devils coach Keith Swanson said. “Our guys came out focused and ready. We get great leadership from our seniors, and really our whole team, and it continues to show on and off the court.”

Kevin Erickson and Carter Brant each scored 12 points to lead the Red Devils, while Wyatt Monette added 11.

Monette also hauled down 13 rebounds, dished out five assists, had four steals and four blocks. Erickson also contributed four steals.

Austin Fowler scored nine points, and Bret Hosmer had seven points and four steals.

The Red Devils improved their season record to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the league. Holton is next scheduled to see action on Wednesday, January 26 hosting Montague in another makeup game.
