MUSKEGON—Muskegon Community College Women’s basketball hosted Kellogg Community College on Wednesday evening and walked away with their second conference win by a score of 64-31.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first quarter as MCC led 13-10 after the first ten minutes of play.

The Jayhawks put the game away in the second stanza as they shut out KCC 21-0 to take a commanding 34-10 halftime lead.

MCC added to there lead outscoring KCC in the third quarter 22-12. The visitors would hold a slim 9-8 scoring margin in the final ten minutes.

It was a good win thanks to our defense, as we struggled with our shooting,” said MCC head coach Jason Cooper.

Julia Tierman (Mona Shores) led the offensive attack with a game high 16 points to go along with 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 10 steals. Ally Sieber (Reeths-Puffer) tossed in 14 points while grabbing 4 rebounds and Mariah Pringle (Brethren) chipped in with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 3 block shots.

The Jayhawks improve to 8-1 overall and are 2-0 in conference play. MCC will take the court again on Saturday, January 15 on the road at Jackson Community College at 1:00 pm.
