The Kent City boys basketball team continued to build chemistry and notched another win as they outdid the Newaygo Lions on Tuesday night, winning 72-46.

The Eagles shot right out of the gate with a 18-5 scoring advantage after the first quarter and was up by 36-14 after the first half.

Newaygo made a valiant effort when it came out of the break outscoring the Eagles for the first time with a 22-17 advantage. But the Eagles held out front with a score of 53-36 with a quarter still left to play.

Seeing great improvements from the beginning of the season, Kent City Coach David Ingles is pleased with the team’s direction.

“Our defense is continuing to get better,” said Coach Ingles. “Offensively the kids are starting to figure it out and shots are going in.”

Kyler Larson put up 25 points to lead all scores for Kent City while Hayden Carlson offered up 19 points and Seth Vanderwest scored 10 points.

Kent City improves to 7-3 and a perfect 4-0 in the CSAA Silver Conference. The Eagles will take a trip to face off with Lakeview on Friday.
