MUSKEGON — Ludington’s boys swimming and diving team competed against the Muskegon Greater Co-op Frogmen and lost, 88-81 Thursday in Muskegon.
Lucas Peterson finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke for the Orioles in a time of 1:15.17, while Gavin Smith took second in 1:21.91.
Ryan Bennett chalked up a victory for the Orioles in the 200-yard intermediate with a time of 2:23.37. He also won the diving competition with a score of 242.85.
Hayden Madl finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.10 seconds and Nevin Slater was third in the same event with a time of 1:07.51.
Smith was the winner of the 500-yard freestyle for the Orioles in a time of 6:21.73 while Rowen Vaara took second in a time of 6:33.22.
Another first was recorded by the Orioles’ 200-yard freestyle relay as Evan Bennett, Peterson, Smith and Madl swam a combined time of 1:46.46.
Madl was second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.12. Lucas Miller finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:17.05.
“This was one of the closest meets yet this year,” Orioles coach Joe Schnieder said. “We were down three boys due to illness. If we had them, I think we would have just edged out the Frogmen.
“The boys swam very well for not much practice the last two weeks. We got a few more things to work on as we head into league meets starting next week.”
It’s disappointing that you did not mention any of the accomplishments of the winning team’s athletes. Ludington has a strong swimming team, but why wouldn’t you mention any of the Frogmen. They pulled off the win with only 8 boys and one girl on their team, a few of whom are brand new to swimming. They are now 2-0!
cuz they name is frog bruh
