The Ravenna boys basketball team clinched a tight 52-46 win over the Montague Wildcats on Friday night to continue their climb in the West Michigan Conference.

Both teams opened with the same intensity as they went back and forth for the first two quarters having been tied up 13-13 after one quarter and 25-25 to go into the break.

The Bulldogs made their adjustments at halftime to find the upper hand with key points. Ravenna led by a single basket, 37-35 to finish off the third quarter.

Carrying that momentum into the final quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats 15-11 in the final eight minutes to seal the deal and earn the league win.

Kyle Beebe had a stellar night for Ravenna, recording a double-double with 22 points, a game high 11 rebounds and four assists.  Grant Becklin tossed in 19 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Also chipping in for the Bulldogs was Travis May with six points, five steals and four assists.

Contributing for the Wildcats on the night, Tate Stine scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds while Owen Rated added 10 points and Rodney Brassfield had eight rebounds and scored seven points.

Ravenna soars to 7-3 and 6-1 in the WMC. The Bulldogs are set to host Whitehall on Tuesday February 1st.

Montague slides to 4-4 with a 3-4 WMC record and will be taking on Fremont at home on Monday.
