Nearly recording a triple-double and putting up 25 points for Reeths-Puffer, Travis Ambrose helped lead the Rockets to a strong 53-39 win over Grand Rapids Union on Friday night.
Aside from his scoring output, Ambrose, the Rockets’ 6-foot-8 center, had 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots.
The Rockets enjoyed a slight three-point cushion after one quarter with a 10-7 lead and grew their advantage even further as they turned up the scoring to go up 26-17 at the halftime break.
Grand Rapids Union could only trim its deficit by a point in the third, outscoring the Rockets, 11-10, and trailed 36-28 entering the fourth.
The Rockets tightened up on both ends of the hardwood again, lighting up on the attack to score 17 points and hold the Red Hawks to just 11 points to cap off the night with the win.
Jaxson Whitaker scored nine points for the Rockets, while Logan Brooks also contributed in the victory pulling down eight rebounds, scoring six points and dishing four assists.
Reeths-Puffer moves to 8-3 and is 5-2 at the halfway point of the O-K Green Conference season. The Rockets travel to face Grand Rapids Northview on Tuesday.
