ZEELAND–Snapping its four game win streak, the Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team dropped its first O-K Green Conference game of the season in a 58-47 loss to Zeeland West on Friday night.

The Rockets came out neck and neck with the Dux as both squads scored 17 points to open up the first quarter of the game. The scoring dropped off for the Rockets as they fell behind 30-24 going into halftime.

Defensively, the Rockets struggled to contain the Dux in the third quarter as they rattled off five of their 12 three point shots on the night to grow the deficit with Zeeland West going up 51-35 entering the fourth quarter.

The Rockets wouldn’t give up without a fight however as they finally got things going to outscore the Dux 12-7 in the fourth quarter but still fell short.

Travis Ambrose led the Rockets recording a double-double with a game high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Also, Clyde Bartee and Logan Brooks chipped in with eight and seven points respectively.

Reeths-Puffer drops to 5-2 on the season with a 2-1 league record and will play host to Mona Shores on Tuesday.
