MUSKEGON–The Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team held the reigns in their O-K Green Conference season opener game against the Zeeland East Chix on Monday night shutting them down 56-46.

Jumping out ahead early, the Rockets had a slight 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter but that was the closest Reeths-Puffer would let the Chix get. The Rockets were up 29-22 going into the halftime break and showed no signs of slowing down.

The Rockets continued to stretch their lead in the second half again outscoring the Chix growing the lead and pushing the score to 44-34 after three quarters of action.

Seeing a scoring stalemate in the fourth quarter with each team scoring 12 points the Rocket lead was solidified.

Playing swift on both ends of the court the Rocket’s Travis Ambrose posted a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while also having six blocks. Jaxson Whitaker led all scorers compiling 20 points and five assists.

Kyle Schlaff contributed on some key hustle plays and helped bolster the Rocket’s defense.

Reeths-Puffer improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in league play and will visit Zeeland
West on Friday for another conference showdown.
