Jumping out in front of their arch rival in their O-K Blue Conference season opener on Friday night the Spring Lake boys basketball team made light work of the Fruitport Trojans shutting them down 58-37.

The Lakers held the Trojans to only 15 points in the first half while they ripped off 32 points to build a healthy lead early. Porter Saunders led the way for the Lakers as he led Spring Lake in scoring and rebounding.

Saunders had a double-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and three assists. Eli Morrison tossed in ten points while Kaden George added seven points and seven assists and Jackson Core contributed six points and six rebounds.

Leading the way for the Trojans was Andrew Spike who scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds while Bode Anspach and Ryan Laus added eight and seven points respectively.

Spring Lake moves to 3-2 and 1-0 in the conference and will play host to Allendale on Tuesday.

Fruitport drops to 4-2 and 0-1 in league play. The Trojans will host Hudsonville Unity Christian on Tuesday evening.
