The Spring Lake boys basketball team faced undefeated and No. 3 ranked Hudsonville Unity Christian on Friday night.
The Lakers held their own and avoided a blow out with a 75-59 loss.
It was a high intensity opening quarter that saw a whopping 50 points scored between the two teams with the Lakers trailing 29-21.
The second quarter was more balanced with both sides posting 12 points apiece as the Lakers trailed 41-33 at the break.
The fast pace began to wear down the Lakers as they stumbled behind, 62-47 with one quarter left to go. Unity Christian held a one point scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to finish off the Lakers.
Despite the loss, Kaden George had a strong night for the Lakers leading all scorers with 22 points. Porter Saunders added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Lakers while Zach Schlepp offered up eight points.
