MUSKEGON—The West Michigan Christian Warriors snapped their season opening five game losing streak on Friday evening, with a come from behind win over Orchard View 64-56.

The Cardinals jumped out quickly to a 18-4 lead within the first four minutes of the first quarter and held a 30-24 halftime lead.

WMC took over in the second half, outscoring Orchard View 40-26.

Owen Varnado led the Warriors with 22 points in his first game of the season after suffering a shoulder injury.

Darius Williams led the Cardinals with a team high 26 points, 5 rebounds to go along with 5 assists. Sophomore Delaney Oakes chipped in with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

West Michigan Christian is 1-5 overall and 1-2 in Lakes 8 Activities Conference play. They will be back in action on Friday, January 21 when they play host to Muskegon Catholic Central.

Orchard View drops to 2-4 on the season and 0-4 in Lakes 8 Activities Conference action. They will hit the road Tuesday for a game against Grand Rapids Covenant Christian.
