MONTAGUE — Host Montague put the defensive clamps down on visiting Hart on Friday, rolling the Pirates in a 63-30 victory.

Head coach Dave Osborne’s squad improves to 13-5 overall and 8-5 in the West Michigan Conference.

“I was really pleased with our defensive effort tonight from start to finish,” Osborne said.

Hart failed to score in double digits in three of four quarters and trailed the Wildcats 38-13 at half.

Montague was also hot shooting from the outside, connecting on nine 3-pointers on the night.

Montague’s Isaiah Atchison tallied a double-double by hitting 7-of-14 from the floor and finished with 14 points. He also pulled down 13 rebounds. Braeden Johnston added eight rebounds and Tate Stine netted 12 points.

Caleb Bitely and Wyatt Dean scored six points apiece to pace Hart, while Tony Rayo grabbed seven rebounds.

The Pirates fall to 5-13 on the season. They’ll return to the court on Tuesday, March 1 when they host Oakridge.

Montague will travel to Ravenna next Tuesday to take on the Bulldogs.
