MUSKEGON–Posting no less than double-digit scores in each of the four quarters, the Muskegon boys basketball team continued its strong season with a solid 61-51 win over O-K Green Conference opponent Holland on Tuesday evening.

The Big Reds came out with intensity catching Holland flatfooted and breaking out a 14-8 lead after the first quarter of action.

Though Holland managed to find some space around the Big Red’s defense in the second quarter to turn up their offensive attack, Muskegon still held the scoring advantage 19-16 during the second stanza to take a 33-24 halftime lead.

Coming out of the break the Big Reds were faced with a reenergized Holland squad.

Though Muskegon continued to make baskets, so did the Dutch, and for the first time in the game, the Big Reds were outscored 14-12 in the third quarter to cut down the deficit to 45-38 entering the fourth quarter.

The Big Reds refocused their game plan and held tight defensively making sure to not give up any more ground, and again regained the scoring advantage 16-13 during the final eight minutes to solidify the win.

Jordan Briggs and Anthony Sydnor accounted for almost half of the Big Red’s points putting up 15 and 11 points respectively while Stanley Cunningham tossed in eight points and Devin Bartee added seven points.

Muskegon climbs to 14-1 overall and sits atop the O-K Green Conference with a record of 10-1. The Big Reds will visit Mona Shores to battle the Sailors in league action on Friday evening.
