Reeths-Puffer brought home the championship trophy from the Division 2 competitive cheer district competition at Reeths-Puffer on Friday night, Feb. 19.
The Rockets, the only area team to win a district title, had a battle with Bryon Center, but finished with 731.43 points while Byron Center had 731.20 in an incredibly close victory.
Spring Lake was third with 705.40 and will move on to the regional level. Fruitport scored 657.60 and finished seventh and Muskegon was eighth with 637.80 points.
Hart’s competitive cheer squad came in second at the MHSAA Division 3 district competition Friday at Grand Rapids West Catholic, less than four points behind district champion Comstock Park, and Whitehall was third and will also compete at the regional.
The Pirates scored a total of 689.64 points while Comstock Park rolled up 693.32 points. Whitehall had 685.52 points for third and Montague was fourth with 603.72. All three advance to the regional competition.
Shelby scored 601.20 points for fifth, Ludington finished sixth with 583.30 points and Grant totaled 537.60 points for ninth.
In Division 4 at Beal City, the Mason County Central team finished third at the Beal City district to advance to the regional round. The Spartans scored 672.20 points after four rounds.
Mona Shores finished third with 768.30 points at the West Ottawa Division 1 district to advance to the regional competition. Grand Haven scored 545 points and finished 15th.
