MUSKEGON–The Muskegon Catholic Central girls basketball team played king slayer as they put a stop to Calvary Christians 11 game win streak with a strong 64-52 victory over the Eagles in a non-conference tilt on Thursday evening.

The Crusaders took hold of the momentum early as they jumped ahead with a 13-8 lead after the first eight minutes of action.

The Crusaders racked up a 22-14 scoring advantage in the second stanza and went into the halftime break with a 35-22 lead.

Continuing with high energy the Crusaders came out into the third quarter without letting up as they proceeded to drop another 20 points to the Eagle’s 16 points to increase the lead to 55-38 entering the fourth quarter.

Calvary Christian outscored Catholic Central 14- over the last eight minutes.

Sara Albanese racked up a game high 21 points for the Crusaders while McKenna Gentry and Katherine Rauch each added 13 points in the win.

Cate Anhalt led the Eagles with 20 points, pulled down nine rebounds and made five assists while McKena Wilson added 17 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Muskegon Catholic Central improves to 8-6 on the season and will be back to action tomorrow (Friday) when they host Muskegon Heights in Lakes 8 Activities Conference play.

Calvary Christian drops to 11-2 and is set to hit the road to battle Wyoming Lee on Friday for an Alliance League tilt.
