FREMONT — Fremont’s boys basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a convincing 62-39 victory over Howard City-Tri County in the Central State Activities Association-Gold.

“We played great defense, especially in the second half,” Packers coach Adam Bowen said. “Because of that, we were able to get our transition game going.

“This was a good bounce back game for us after a disappointing loss on Tuesday. I was proud of our guys for responding the way we did.

“I was happy that all of our seniors were able to play and score in their last home game.”

Joey DeLong led the Packers in scoring with 19 points. He also picked off five steals and grabbed five rebounds. Eli Shears came off the bench to score 10 points.

Logan Nelson added six points and dished out four assists. Chase Rasmussen contributed four points, while Blake Hanshue and Tegan Reichert-Slater each netted two points.

Fremont improved its record to 12-6 and 10-2 in the conference for second place. The Packers return to the court for a game Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Remus-Chippewa Hills.
