MUSKEGON — Kent City and Grant each had two individual district champions crowned, while Montague had one titlest Saturday at the MHSAA Division 2 district tournament at Orchard View.

Eagles sophomore Carson Gorton won the 103-pound weight class with a pin in 5:35 over sophomore Jimmy Thommen of Montague. Gorton won all three of his matches by pin to go 4-0 on the day.  

His second place finish at 103 sends Thommen on to the regional round.  

Also coming home with a district title was Kent City senior Logan McVicker, who won the 285-pound championship with a 1-0 decision over Ivan Lara of Hart.  

Grant freshman Alex Russo earned an individual title at 112 with a 2-0 decision in the final over Kent City junior Zane Kik, who also qualified for the regional.  

Tigers senior Brady Jacobs won the 152-pound title with a 7-0 decision in the final over David Hill of Muskegon. He won his other matches by a fall in 1:42 and an 11-3 decision.  

Montague senior Cale Coppress picked up the championship medal at 135 pounds with a pin in 5:43 in the final against Grand Rapids Catholic’s Lee Braun.  

Chris Aebig finished second at 119 and now will compete in the regional.  

His junior teammate, Tristan Winkleblack earned the title at 140 pounds with a pin

fall in 3:09 over Jaykob Downer of Howard City Tri County in the championship match.  

Orchard View crowned one champion, with Jaxon Tuttle winning the 189-pound title with a pin in 1:41 over Travis Boughan of Shelby.  

Shelby also qualified sophomore Nick Cano (third at 103), senior Cade Clement (fourth at 152), Preston Priese (fourth at 119) and Travis Boughan (second at 189).  

Kent City’s additional qualifiers included sophomore Emmanuel Hernandez (fourth at 103), sophomore Gabe Rusnell (third at 130), senior James Farrington (third at 171) and senior Joe Anderson (fourth at 215).  

Grant also qualified senior Angel Tello (fourth at 145), senior Cade Clement (fourth at 152) and Nolan Corvers (third at 215).  

Newaygo had sophomore William Berenbrok (third at 140) make it through.  

Catholic Central is sending David Hill (runner-up at 152) and Zach Michael (third place at 189).  

Orchard View’s qualifiers included Aquilla Payne (fourth at 112), Andrew Filipiak (third at 152) and Angelo Perri (fourth at 160), Jamario dash (fourth at 285).
