COOPERSVILLE–Despite kicking off action with a quick start in the first quarter, the Fruitport boys basketball team dropped another O-K Green Conference game at the hands of Coopersville by a score of 58-48 on the road Friday evening.
Starting out with the hot hand the Trojans jumped out to a 14-8 lead after the first eight minutes of action.
The Trojans watched their lead fizzle over the second quarter, however, as the defense struggled to contain the Broncos allowing them to set up a six point scoring advantage of their own to tie it up 21-21 at the half.
The Trojans had lost the edge they had over the opening quarter and struggled to control the Bronco shooting allowing a number of three pointers in the third quarter to leave Fruitport trailing 41-37 entering the fourth quarter.
The troubles continued for the Trojans in the last eight minutes as they still couldn’t find a leg up over the Broncos and allowed some Coopersville free throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach for Fruitport.
Leading the way for the Trojans in the loss was Bode Anspach who put up 22 points while Ryan Laus chipped in with eight points.
Fruitport falls to 5-10 on the season and 1-9 in league play. The Trojans will be home on Tuesday as they will host conference foe Holland Christian.
