SPRING LAKE — Spring Lake’s boys basketball team celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with a 62-49 OK Conference Blue victory over Hamilton that snapped a four-game losing streak for the Lakers.

Hamilton got things off to a bad start for the Lakers when it took a 17-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, sinking five 3-point shots.

But, the Lakers stormed back with a 21-7 second quarter and went into the half with a 34-24 lead.

The Lakers enjoyed a 10-3 advantage in the third period, and entered the fourth quarter with a 44-27 advantage. Hamilton closed the gap some with a 22-18 edge in the final eight minutes.

Kaden George scored a game-high 18 points for the Lakers, while Porter Saunders contributed 17 points and hauled down 12 rebounds. Zach Schlepp chipped in with 13 points.

Seven seniors played in their final home game at Spring Lake, who included Jackson Core, George, Dylan Lisman, Nino Padula, Link Dephouse, Saunders and Evan McDermott.

The Lakers improved their record to 8-10 overall and 5-8 in the conference. Spring Lake is next scheduled to see action again Friday at Grand Rapids West Catholic.
