It was a well contested game in the opening quarter as both teams were neck and neck and tied up at 10-10.
Rolling into the second quarter the Lakers cracked down on defense to limit the Trojan’s scoring to just three points while capitalizing on some quick turnaround plays to make a 13 point run and capture a 23-13 lead going into halftime.
As the action moved into the third quarter the Lakers were undeterred offensively as their shots continued to fall while holding off the Trojans on the defensive end to push Spring Lake to a commanding 41-24 lead after three quarters.
The Trojans managed to untangle their offense in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Lakers 14-9 but by then the Lakers had complete control to solidify the win.
Kaden George led the Lakers offense with 25 points while Porter Saunders tossed in 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Eli Morrison grabbed eight rebounds while scoring five points and Jackson Core added five points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Leading in scoring for the Trojans was Bode Anspach with eight points while Gavin Reames, Paschal Jolman, Ryan Laus and Andrew Spyke each contributed six points a piece.
Spring Lake moves to 6-6 on the season and 4-4 in the conference. The Lakers will continue league play on Tuesday when they visit Allendale.
Fruitport slumps to 5-8 with a record of 1-7 in the league and will take on another O-K Blue Conference foe on Wednesday when they travel to Hudsonville Unity Christian.
