HART — West Michigan Aviation Academy flew into Hart’s gym for a non-conference boys basketball game with the Pirates, and took off with a 77-42 victory Wednesday night.

The Pirates couldn’t get their offense started, and they also had trouble keeping the Aviation Academy from getting off the runway and trailed, 27-10 at the end of the first quarter.

It didn’t get any better for the Pirates in the second quarter, as they were outscored by a 17-8 margin to go into the half with a daunting 44-18 deficit.

Hart was outscored, 13-9 in the third quarter and went into the fourth quarter trailing, 57-27.

Wyatt Dean and Diego Escamilla scored nine points apiece to lead the Pirates while Kohen Porter added eight.

Dean also dished out four assists, while Porter had three. Tony Rayo led the Pirates with eight rebounds.

The Pirates fell to 5-12 and are next scheduled to see action Friday at Montague in the West Michigan Conference.
