MONTAGUE — Hart’s wrestling team enjoyed a banner day at the West Michigan Conference Championships in Montague on Saturday, taking second place outright behind conference champion Whitehall.

Crowning four individual league champions, the Pirates accumulated 185.5 points while the Vikings came out on top overall with 239 points.

Winning conference titles for the Pirates were Trayce Tate at 119 pounds, Ty Thomas at 145, Mason Cantu at 189 and 189-pounder Leo Guadarrama.

Bringing home second place medals were Bryce Jorissen at 130 pounds, Guillermo Ortega at 152, Zane Thomas at 171 and heavyweight Ivan Lara.

Third place medals were taken by Julian Vaszquez at 112, 135-pounder Julio Sarabia, Uriel Vitches-Mendoza at 140, 160-pounder Alex Hicks and 215-pounder Jon Ponce. Fourth place was earned by 103-pounder Emmanuel Ortega.

Manuel Vasquez finished second at 171 pounds and Max Stitt captured fourth place at 119 in the B team tournament.
