HESPERIA–The Hesperia girls basketball team nearly got their first CSAA-Silver win of the season but fell flat after leading for the entire first half only to lose 39-27 on Friday evening to the Lakeview Wildcats.

The Panthers found a quick start taking off on a first quarter scoring run to take on a 10-3 lead to open the game.

The solid lead would dwindle during the second quarter as the Panthers stalled out allowing the Wildcats to chip away at the Hesperia lead and make a run of their own to narrow the gap to 17-15 at the break.

Continuing to hold on to the lead the Panthers held the Wildcats to only six points in the third quarter but only scored six points to preserve the lead and push the score to 23-21 entering the fourth quarter.

All the momentum from the first half was lost for the Panthers as they struggled to find the basket in the fourth quarter being outscored 18-4.

Emmet Tinkham posted a double-double for Hesperia with a team high16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while Emma Joppich pulled down 11 rebounds.

Hesperia slumps to 2-10 for the season with a still winless conference record of 0-7 and is set to travel to Walkerville on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt.
