HART–The Hart girls basketball team cruised to a 54-14 win over Whitehall on Senior Night Tuesday evening as they earned a dominating Western Michigan Conference win.

The Pirates came out with high energy and using a strong defensive effort to take a quick 17-4 lead after the first quarter of action.

It was slow going as the second quarter opened up and the Vikings stayed within striking distance until the Pirates found a spark and tore off on a 16-4 scoring run to close out the first half with a massive 39-8 lead.

The effort continued into the second half as the pressure led to several baskets in transition for the Pirates along with a defensive front that held the Vikings to only three total field goals and Charley Klint to a single point.

Addi Hovey led the Hart offense with a team high 16 points, pulled down six rebounds, snagged six steals and made three blocks while Mariana VanAgtmael chipped in with 12 points with six steals.

Abby Hicks had eight points, four rebounds and four assists and Morgan Marvin chipped in with seven points, four rebounds, four assists and four blocks.

Hart climbs to 13-2 overall and 11-0 in the WMC. The Pirates are set to host the North Muskegon Norse on Friday.

Whitehall sinks to 7-10 overall with a record of 5-6 in the conference and will next be at Oakridge on Friday.
