MUSKEGON—The Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball team had their second conference match-up with Glen Oaks Community College on Saturday afternoon, just five days after playing them the first time this season and came away with a solid 74-33 conference win.

MCC jumped out to an 18-11 lead after the first ten minutes of action.

For all practical purposes the Jayhawks put the game away during the middle two quarters, outscoring Glen Oaks 23-1 in the second stanza to take a 41-12 halftime lead before outscoring the visitors 22-10 in the third quarter.

 The Jayhawks bench played most of the fourth quarter maintaining the lead which saw both teams toss in 11 points.

“Good team win today. Our defense was the difference in our game today,” said Jayhawks head coach Jason Cooper.

Calla Miller (Fremont) and Ashley Richmond (West Catholic) led the Jayhawk offense with 11 points each. Julia Tierman (Mona Shores) and Karleigh Jeffries (Whitehall) each chipped in with 10 points.

The Jayhawks improve to 15-4 overall and are 9-3 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. MCC will take the court again on Wednesday, Feb. 9 on the road as they visit Kellogg Community College at 5:30 pm.
