BATTLE CREEK—The Muskegon Community College Men’s Basketball program had their second conference match-up with Kellogg Community College on Wednesday evening and won their third consecutive game 98-93.

Ten Jayhawks found the scoring column and five players hit for double digits led by Vern Nash (Muskegon) with a team high 18 points.

MCC head coach Jimmy Booth got a huge scoring lift off the bench as the reserve unit came up with 50 points.

Muskegon Community College held a slim 43-41 halftime lead.

The Jayhawks and Bruins continued to push the offensive tempo in the second half which saw MCC hold a slim 55-52 scoring advantage to secure the five point road win.

Joining Nash in double figures were DJ Lanier (Dowagiac) and Kalil Stimage (Muskegon) each scoring 13 points respectively. Jake Martinson (Big Rapids) and Jeff Sultzer (T.C. Howe) each tossed in 10 points.

Ty Thiel (Rockford) led the Jayhawks with 11 rebounds.

The Jayhawks shot 44 percent from the field hitting 34-of-78 shots. MCC hit 14-of-18 from the free throw line and had a team total of 36 rebounds.

Kellogg Community College was led by Brett White with a game high 38 points.

Muskegon Community College improves to 13-6 overall and 10-3 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (Western Division) good for first place. The Jayhawks will take the court again on Saturday, Feb. 12 at home vs. Jackson Community College at 3:00 pm.
