The Shelby girls basketball team handed Orchard View another loss on the season, running away with a 52-33 win at home on Tuesday evening in a non-conference battle.

The Tigers wasted no time, grabbing a 15-5 scoring run to open up the game and a 16-10 run to maintain a healthy 31-15 lead at the half.

The Cardinals made some adjustments during the break and outscored the Tigers in the third to cut Shelby’s lead to 39-27 with only a quarter left to play.

Shelby’s Kendall Zoulek displayed her dominance all over the court as she posted a double-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Ella Olmstead also added in production for the Tigers, putting up 12 points.

Scoring for the Cardinals was Grace Gardner and Tionne Steward with 17 points and 11 points, respectively.

Shelby moves to 9-5 on the season and will visit Hart on Thursday for WMC action.

Orchard View continues their struggles, slumping to 1-13. The Cardinals are set to host to the Crusaders of Muskegon Catholic Central on Friday.
