MUSKEGON—The Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball program had their second conference match-up with Grand Rapids Community College on Wednesday evening and avenged a January 19, 49-47 loss to GRCC with a 58-45 home win.

The Jayhawks jumped out to a 15-10 lead after the first ten minutes of action.

The Raiders would reverse that scoring margin with a 15-10 scoring advantage of their own in the second stanza to tie things up at 25-25 at the halftime break.

MCC controlled the second half racking up a third quarter advantage 19-11 and a 14-9 scoring advantage in the final ten minutes to secure the 13-point margin of victory.

“Great win against a very physical team tonight. The second half run was the difference for us tonight,” said Jayhawks coach Jason Cooper.

Julia Tierman (Mona Shores) led the Jayhawks offense with a team high 20 points, while grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out two assists and having two steals. Mariah Pringle (Brethren) tossed in 12 points and hauled down seven rebounds. Trina Lewis (Reeths-Puffer) contributed six points and brought down a team leading 12 rebounds.

Muskegon Community College improves to 18-4 overall and is 12-3 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association The Jayhawks will take the court again on Saturday, Feb. 19 at home against Lansing Community College at 1:00 pm
