HESPERIA — Kent City’s boys basketball team won its third straight following a loss to Sparta with a 74-46 road victory Friday night over Hesperia in the Central State Activities Association – Silver.

The Eagles never looked back after they took a 13-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Kent City outscored Hesperia, 26-13 in the second quarter for a 39-17 lead at the half.

Kent City’s offense continued to click in the second half, as the Eagles outscored the Panthers, 20-13 in the third period and hit the floor for the fourth quarter with a 59-30 cushion. The Eagles finished the game with a 15-13 fourth quarter.

“Our defensive effort was not where it needed to be tonight,” Kent City head coach David Ingles said. “It’s the first time in several games we didn’t bring it at that end.”

Klyer Larson poured in 37 points to lead the Eagles, while Hayden Carlson added 12 points.

Hesperia’s record dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-8 in the conference. The Panthers are next scheduled to see action Monday night at Big Rapids Crossroads Academy in a non-conference game.

Kent City bumped its record up to 11-4 overall and 8-0 in the conference. The Eagles are idle now until Friday, Feb. 18 hosting Holton.
