MUSKEGON — Oakridge’s girls basketball team advanced in the MHSAA Division 2 district it is hosting with a 52-20 victory over Fruitport in the first round Monday night.

It was a close game through the first 16 minutes, with the Eagles outscoring the Lady Trojans, 10-7 in the first quarter and 14-9 in the second for a 24-16 halftime score.

But the game swung the other way in the third quarter when the Eagles rolled up a 13-2 advantage that grew the Oakridge lead to 37-18 going into the fourth quarter.

Oakridge finished the game with a 15-2 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Anna Lundquist scored 23 points to lead the Eagles, and she added three steals, three blocked shots and eight rebounds. Destyni Lane added 12 points, picked of seven steals, grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists.

Oakridge improved to 8-13 and advances to the second round.

Fruitport finishes the season with a 1-20 overall record.
