HESPERIA — Holton came out strong at both ends of the court and came away with its second consecutive win, 56-28 over Hesperia on the road Friday night in the Central State Athletic Association-Silver.

The Red Devils jumped out to a 24-3 first quarter lead and never looked back. Holton outscored the Panthers, 10-6 in the second period and led, 34-9 at the half.

Holton kept up the pressure on the Panthers in the second half, outscoring them, 14-9 in the third period and went into the fourth with a 48-18 lead. The Panthers outscored the Red Devils, 10-8 in the final eight minutes.

Leading the Red Devils was Wyatt Monette with 23 points, hauled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists. Bret Hosmer added 11 points and Carter Brant scored nine points and had five rebounds.

“Holton came out strong as we expected,” said Hesperia coach Andrew Worcester. “We knew it would be a tough game. But I felt our guys gave it their all for their last home game.

“Our two freshmen continue to be the main effort of our offense the last two games, and I’m proud of their improvement as well.”

Holton improves to 13-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference. The Red Devils are next scheduled to see action on Tuesday at home against Muskegon Catholic Central.

Hesperia falls to 1-16 overall and 0-10 in the conference. The Panthers are next scheduled to see action Tuesday night in Baldwin.
