MUSKEGON–The Crusaders were sparked by Jaden Johnson’s 14 second half points and his eighth straight double-double in their 62-49 win on Friday evening over Orchard View.

Orchard View got out to a strong start including five first half threes. Orchard View built a 27-25 halftime lead after trailing 14-13 after the first quarter. Muskegon Catholic stormed back to a 41-37 third quarter lead.

Johnson’s eighth straight double-double propelled the Crusaders. Dane Rutz added 14 points, six assists and eight rebounds. Braden Gustin tallied his first double-double of his season as well with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Tramel Caviness came in off the bench with 10 points and three blocks.

Muskegon Catholic improves to 4-7 overall and 3-4 in Lakes 8 conference play after winning three in a row. The Crusaders will travel to Ravenna on February 8th to look to expand their winning streak.

Orchard View falls to 3-9 overall and 1-6 in Lakes 8 conference play. The Cardinals host Montague on February 8th to try to get back in the win column.
