HOLLAND — Overcoming an early deficit, the Muskegon girls basketball team hung on at the end for a 57-53 victory over Holland on the road Tuesday night in the OK Conference-Green, and notched its fifth straight win.
The Lady Reds trailed, 14-13 after the first quarter and were outscored, 10-7 in the second to be looking up at a 24-20 deficit at the half.
But the Lady Reds came charging back in the second half, outscoring Holland by a 20-10 margin in the third period to lead by six, 40-34 at the half. Each team scored 19 points in the final eight minutes.
JamYa Robinson paced Muskegon in scoring with 16 points. Alayna Hussey contributed 12 while Layla Harris chipped in with eight.
Robinson also led Muskegon with nine rebounds. Harris grabbed five boards and Iyana Brooks four. Kamya Anderson dished out two assists.
Muskegon improved its record to 11-5 overall and 10-1 in the conference. The Big Reds are next scheduled to see action at home Friday night against Mona Shores.
