Using stellar mid-game defense at home for Senior Night, the Oakridge girls basketball team held North Muskegon to only two points over the second and third quarters to come out with a 34-20 WMC win on Thursday evening.

The Eagles and Norse battled close through the first quarter for a 9-8 Oakridge advantage.

Rolling into the second quarter, the Eagles found a new gear and gained an edge from both sides of the ball. Oakridge racked up 14 unanswered points while their defense flexed and shut out the Norse to move into halftime with the steep 23-8 lead.

While the Eagles gave up just two North Muskegon points in the third quarter, they managed to score just four points and a 27-10 lead.

Oakridge slowed down the game in the final eight minutes to hold on to the win.

Leading the way for the Eagles was Anna Lundquist who earned a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while also adding three steals and two blocks. Destyni Lane chipped in seven points and snagged seven steals and five rebounds.

Jasmine Pastor also did her part for the Eagle’s win, throwing in six points, six rebounds and three steals.
